Cooperatives act to be passed in next JS session: Ranga

DHAKA, July 28, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives
Moshiur Rahman Ranga today said the proposed cooperatives act will be passed
in next session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

“A committee has been formed to change, enhance and correct the act so that
it becomes acceptable to all. It has been sent to the JS committee and the
proposed act will be passed soon in the next JS session,” he said.

Ranga said these while addressing the 28th annual general meeting of
Bangladesh Co-operative Insurance Limited (BCIL) at Hotel 71 in the capital.

“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had given Taka 25
crore grant to take the cooperative sector forward. After the killing of
Bangabandhu with most of his family members, the development of cooperative
sector got obstructed,” he added.

Presided over by BCIL secretary Latifur Rahman, the function was addressed
by Najrul Islam Babu, MP, and Registrar & Director General of Department of
Cooperatives Md. Abdul Majid and BCIL chairman Muhammad Abul Kashem, among
others.
