MoU to be signed with Turkey on development in sports: Russel

DHAKA, June 16, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, today said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on development of youth and sports would be signed with Turkey.

He made the comment when Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka Mustafa Osman Turan paid a courtesy call on him at the secretariat office this afternoon.

Prior to the courtesy call, the State Minister and the Turkish Ambassador inaugurated the “Greengen Movement” campaign, a 10,000-tree planting program with the participation of young people, organized by the voluntary youth organization Bloodman.

Russel said that the Ambassador of Turkey has proposed to sign a MoU on Youth and Sports with us. Soon, a formal action would be taken by both the countries in this regard. Through this MoU, youth exchange activities will be undertaken between the two countries and advanced training would be provided to the players through experienced coaches of both the countries, which would usher in a new horizon between the two friendly states.

He further said that the Ambassador of Turkey, under the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has made unprecedented progress in Bangladesh.

He hoped that the Turkish government would extend full support to the Bangladesh government in the development of education, health and trade infrastructure in Bangladesh.

Ambassador Turan said: “The Bangladesh government has set a unique example of humanity around the world by sheltering displaced and helpless Rohingya from Myanmar. I thank the government of Bangladesh. I hope that Turkey will continue to stand by Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue in the future as well as in the past.”

The State Minister also thanked the Turkish government by saying that: “Turkey is a good friend of ours…..I hope that the Turkish government will invest more skilled manpower from Bangladesh in the Turkish labor market.”
