PM to hand over houses to 100 homeless families in Rangunia

CHATTOGRAM, June 12, 2021 (BSS)-Over 100 landless and homeless families will get semi brick-built houses, ‘Shopner Thikana’ (Dream House), in the second phase under Rangunia upazila.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the video conference on June 20 and hand over the houses to 100 more homeless and landless families built in different unions of Rangunia Upazila of the district.

She will hand over these houses built in the 2nd phase as a gift in the Mujib Borsho.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner will join at Bahalpur village of Betagi Union under Rangunia the beneficiaries on June 20 where 30 houses were constructed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will gift ‘Shopner Thikana’ (Dream House) to the homeless and landless people across the country to fulfill the promise of ‘No one will be homeless in the Mujib Borsho’ on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Divisional Commissioner Kamrul Hasan visited Bahalpur village of Betagi Union and Ghatchek village on Saturday to see the construction activities and preparations of these houses.

Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Mominur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioners SM Zakaria, Khandaker Jamshed Hossain, Masud Karim, Upazila Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Masudur Rahman, senior officials of district administration and local politicians accompanied him.

Kamrul Hasan spoke to a number of beneficiaries, including Nasser Khan and Minu Das.

“No one will be homeless and landless on the occasion of birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. For this, the houses have been built to implement the announcement made by Bangabandhu’s daughter the Prime Minister,” the Divisional Commissioner added.

No one has taken such an initiative anywhere in the world, he added.

Earlier, the Prime Minister handed over houses to 70,000 families on January 23. It has been praised all over the world.

He said that those who will live in the shelter project will not only spend time here, but also have facilities of livelihoods, the divisional commissioner added.

UNO Masudur Rahman said “In the first phase, 75 families got houses with land in Rangunia Upazila. In the second phase, 100 families will be given houses with land on June 20.”

Besides, more than one lakh families will be given houses as gifts in the second phase. Not only the house, every house will be provided with electricity and water. At the same time, employment will be arranged for the members of these families.
