DHAKA, July 21, 2018 (BSS)- President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said today that the misdeeds of Zia need to be investigated and a white paper published on it.
Inu was speaking at a memorial meeting held at the Shaheed Colonel Taher auditorium in the city today. It was on this day in 1976 that Abu Taher, Bir Uttam was executed after a sham trial.
The minister said that not only Taher thousands of soldiers were slaughtered by Ziaur Rahman during his tenure.
Inu demanded an investigation into all the killings and due punishment to the perpetrators and their accomplices.
He also said that at a time when Zia was killing freedom fighters and common soldiers, he was rehabilitating war collaborators, criminals and the killers of Bangabnbandhu.
“The ‘Poison Ivy’ Zia had planted still poisons into the body politic of Bangladesh, “he said.
Meanwhile in Taher’s home village of Kazla in Netrakona Taher’s family members, including Mrs. Lutfa Taher, MP and Taher’s brother Professor Anwar Hossain along with local JASHOD leaders, laid wreaths at the grave of the slain leader.
