CHATTOGRAM, May 7, 2021 (BSS) – A total of three people died of Covid-19 and 108 more tested positive for the lethal virus in last 24 hours in the district as the infection rate is 9.94 percent.
The number of infected people reached 50,883 in the district till Thursday evening.
The daily infection figure shows a slight decline compared to the previous day’s figure of 155, but the recovery rate is decreasing continually in the district in recent weeks, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chatogram told BSS today.
Among the infected patients, 86 are from Chattogram city and 22 from different upazilas of the district.
The health experts reiterated their urge to city dwellers to strictly follow health rules and use masks to contain COVID-19.
With three deaths on Thursday, the number of fatalities from the virus in Chattogram reached 552, Dr Rabbi said.
“Among the reported fatalities, 409 were the residents of the port city and the rest 143 were from different upazilas of the district,” he said,
Among the total 50280 coronavirus infected people, 40,755 are the residents of the port city and the rest 10,128 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he continued.
“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 36,996 in the district with the recovery of 99 more people on Thursday,” the health official said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 73.57.
A total of 1,661 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, he mentioned.
