Cash assistance continues under VGF programme in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, May 7, 2021 (BSS) – Cash Taka distribution among destitute and poor people of all the seven upazila in the district is going on under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) program to help them celebrate the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr smoothly.

Upazila administration is distributing the cash money in cooperation with the local government bodies.

District relief and rehabilitation office sources said the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief allocated TK 7 crore 46 lac and 86,500 for a total of one lakh, 65 thousand and 970 VGF card holders in the district.

Of the card holders, 30, 752 are in Sadar Upazila, 28,899 in Sundarganj Upazila, 15,160 in Shaghata Upazila, 28,252 in Gobindaganj Upazila, 15,762 in Sadullapur Upazila, and 13, 073 in Palashbari Upazila.

Moreover, 13,863 card holders are in Gaibandha, Gobindaganj, Sundarganj and Palashbari Pourashavas of the district, the sources said.

Each of the beneficiaries is getting cash Tk 450, said district relief and rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin told BSS that instructions were given to the upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) along with project implementation officers (PIOs) to distribute the cash money to the beneficiaries smoothly before Eid festival

Sadar UNO M. Abdur Rafiul Alam and PIO Anisur Rahman said as per the directive of the DC, the cash taka is being distributed to the beneficiaries of the upazila.
