1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday
BEIJING, April 20 ,2021(BSS/XINHUA) – Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.13 percent, at 3,472.94 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.11 percent lower at 14,101.9 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 845.6 billion yuan (about 129.89 billion U.S. dollars), down from 861.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to Baijiu saw the highest rise, while shares of semiconductors led the decline.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.09 percent to close at 2,896.11 points.
