Prof Arefin mourns death of Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan

DHAKA, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) former
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed
profound shock and sorrow at the death of incumbent president and
former director general of Bangla Academy and renowned researcher of
folk culture Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan.

In a message of condolence, he said Shamsuzzaman Khan led the
country’s cultural arena for long.

Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh
Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said Shamsuzzaman Khan’s death will create a
deep vacuum in the field of country’s literature and culture.

Paying deep tributes to his memories, the former vice-chancellor of
DU said Shamsuzzaman Khan closely engaged himself with different
activities of the university and made significant contributions to DU
as a syndicate member.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep
sympathy to the bereaved family.

Prof Arefin also expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death
of 96 people who passed away with coronavirus infection in the country
in the last 24 hours.
