Success in women empowerment lauded

RANGPUR, July 19, 2018 (BSS) -Government officials at a rally here have
said Bangladesh has achieved a laudable success in women empowerment
following realisation of various visionary programmes during the past 10
years.

They came up with the observation at the women rally organised by District
Information Office (DIO) at Kawnia Mohila College hall room under Kawnia
upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

The DIO organised the event to inform the common people about successes of
the present government and future development plans, Prime Minister (PM)’s 10
special initiatives, preventing militancy, terrorism and drug abuse.

Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Nazia Sultana attended the rally as the
chief guest with principal of Kawnia Mohila College Hemanta Kumar Barman in
the chair.

Freedom Fighter Sarder Abdul Hakim, assistant professor of Kawnia Mohila
College Dipa Rani Roy and Lecturer Faridul Islam Sarker and Upazila Women
Affairs Officer Nuresh Kawser Jahan addressed the rally as special guests.

Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kobir delivered keynote
presentation in the rally participated by over 300 higher secondary and
degree level female students, their mothers and local elite.

The chief guest appreciated the present government for taking massive
steps like distribution of education assistance and preservation of reserved
seats in the parliament for the women for speeding up women empowerment in
the country.

Earlier, documentary films were screened focusing on successes achieved by
the government in different sectors and preventing child marriage, militancy
and terrorism under the “Strengthening the Publicity for Development of Rural
People” project.
