KHULNA, Apr 7, 2021(BSS) – A total of 250 destitute poor families of all unions in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna district today received greetings and gifts from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Maintaining social distance and health guidelines, Khulna deputy commissioner and district magistrate Md Helal Hossain distributed the gifts at Jalma Union under Batiaghata upazila in the district, said a press release issued by assistant commissioner Debashish Basak.
Deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain said as part of the countrywide gift distribution programme, at least 250 jobless, destitute people were given “Mujib Barso” gifts ahead of the holy Ramadan, the release added.
The DC urged the people to abide by health guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Legal action will be taken against those who do not follow health guidelines, he added.
Chaired by Batiaghata Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khan Nazrul Islam, additional district magistrate Yousup Ali, Batiaghata upazila chairman Ashraful Islam Khan, among others, were present at the programme .
