RAJSHAHI, July 17, 2018 (BSS) – Rajshahi Mohila Technical Training Centre
(RMTTC) provided 9,690 women with various vocational trainings in last nine
years as many of them got jobs in both home and abroad contributing to
socioeconomic development of the country.

“We provided 8294 women who intended to go abroad with different trainings
including vocational and housekeeping and many of them got jobs,”, said
Nazmul Haque, Principal of RMTTC, while talking to BSS.

Around 600 women were given six-month training on general electronics,
architectural drafting with AutoCAD, dress-making and embroidery, dyeing,
printing and block boutique, fruit processing and preservation under Skill
Training and Enhancement Project (STEP), he said.

Self-employment generation training was given to around 450 other women
for giving them scopes of achieving self-reliance through income generation
activities, he added.

Meanwhile, in joint collaboration with Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers
and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce
and Industries (BWCCI), 246 women were imparted two-month training on oven
garments, fashion designing and product development.

With initiative of the small entrepreneurs’ improvement project, more than
100 women were brought under two-month training course on food and beverage
production and services.

Haque said a memorandum of understanding has been signed between job-
providing institutions and RMTTC to promote employment to women being taken
trainings.

Amena Begum, owner of Maisha Boutique and Fashion House at Upashahar
Koyerdara in the city, narrated her success story. She supplies her products
to different parts of the country successfully. More than 100 women coming
from underprivileged families are working in her industry as labourers.

“We supply our finished goods to more than 14-15 districts including
Dhaka,” said Tahmina Akhter Minu, owner of Minu Boutique House in Shapura
area. She is satisfied with her business that generates employment of around
50 women.

Prof Rojety Naznin, local unit President of Bangladesh Women Chamber of
Commerce and Industries, said technical training always provides practical
knowledge that can make people self employed.

“We have no way but to turn women competent by giving them vocational
trainings for overall development of the society,” she mentioned.

The industrialists and other entrepreneurs should come forward with
positive mentality for their employment. There should be more linkage between
the RMTTC and industries so that the trained women can get job on priority
basis, she continued.
