COVID-19 recovery rate reaches 97.55pc in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 9, 2021 (BSS) – The average recovery rate of COVID-19
patients rose to 97.55 percent with healing of 276 persons on Monday in the
division where infection rate again started showing a little rising trend in
the last three days.

“A total of 15,485 out of total 15,874 coronavirus patients have so far
healed with the recovery rate of 97.55 percent,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and
Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS
today.

The 15,485 recovered patients included 3,967 of Rangpur, 771 of
Panchagarh, 1,302 of Nilphamari, 953 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,473
of Thakurgaon, 4,601 of Dinajpur and 1,438 of Gaibandha districts in the
division, he said.

Meanwhile, seven new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing
187 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 3.74 percent on Monday
raising the number of patients to 15,874 in the division.

The district-wise break up of the total 15,874 patients stands at 4,057 in
Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,340 in Nilphamari, 966 in Lalmonirhat, 1,021 in
Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,717 in Dinajpur and 1,465 in Gaibandha
districts.

Since the beginning, a total of 1,09,214 collected samples of Rangpur
division were tested till Monday night, and of them, 15,874 were found COVID-
19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.53 percent.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said
the number of fatalities rose to 309 in the division with one more death
reported from Nilphamari on Monday.

The district-wise break up of the 309 fatalities stands at 72 in Rangpur,
111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 29 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in
Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,
he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.95 percent in the
division,” he said.

Among the total 15,874 COVID-19 infected patients, four are undergoing
treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,485 patients and 309
deaths while 76 are remaining in home isolations across the division.

Since the beginning, a total of 95,737 people were put in quarantine, and
of them, 93,282 were released from isolation so far from across the division.

“Since launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign from February 7
last, a total of 3,56,844 citizens, including 2,26,204 male and 1,30,640
female, were vaccinated in the division till Monday,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
the COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues smoothly in Rangpur division.

“Everyone should abide by the health directives and wear masks while
remaining outside to check further rise in the spread of COVID-19 infection
to ultimately bring down the infection rate to the zero level,” Dr. Lyzu
added.
