Dhaka-Jalpaiguri new passenger train to be inaugurated on Mar 26

DHAKA, Mar 2, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh and India will introduce new passenger train service on Dhaka-Jalpaiguri route on March 26, marking the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence, said an official release here today.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are expected to inaugurate the new inter-country passenger train during Modi’s Dhaka visit to mark the anniversary.

The passenger train will directly run from Dhaka to India’s New Jalpaiguri Junction through Chilahati-Haldibari cross-border rail route.

But the schedule of the train’s arrival, departure, fair and immigration and also its name will be determined later through discussing between the railway officials of the two countries.
