BB governor for preventing cyber crime in financial sector

DHAKA, July 15, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor Fazle Kabir today
asked the concerned authorities and high officials of banks to be alert
against cyber crime and cryptocurrency transactions for maintaining stability
in financial sector.

“The central bank and the Bangladesh Financial Intelligent Units (BFIU) are
working together to prevent all types of crimes which are happing in banking
sector through the mobile financial services,” he said while speaking at a
conference on money laundering and terror financing at a city hotel.

In association with the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) and Anti-
Money Laundering Compliance Officers of Banks in Bangladesh (AACOBB), BFIU
organised the conference for managing directors or chief executive officers
of banks.

BB deputy governor and BFIU head Abu Hena Mohd Razee Hassan and BFIU
General Manager ABM Zahurul Huda were, among others, present.

Fazle Kabir said BB is working to make business easy in the country through
developing the private sector as it can play a vital role to cut poverty and
inequality.

“The central bank is working to ensure the proper use of resources through
ensuring transparency and integrity in the financial sector,” he added.

The BB governor stressed ensuring transparency in all sectors to build the
country as a developed one.
