Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad’s 85th birth anniversary observed in Narail

NARAIL, Feb 26, 2021 (BSS) – The 85th birth anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh was observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar under Chandibarpur union in Narail sadar upazila of the district today in a befitting manner.

Marking the day, Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust and district administration jointly organised various programmes including holding discussion, quiz competitions on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Muktijuddho-O-Bangladesh and Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh, giving guard of honor and offering prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Nur Mohammad.

Narail Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Habibur Rahman who is also the president of Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust, was attended the programmes as the chief guest while Police Super Prabir Kumar Roy, Narail Municipality Mayor Anjuman Ara, sadar upazila nirbahi officer Salma Selim, Sadar thana OC Md.Elias Hossain, freedom fighters Advocate SA Matin and Md. Saifur Rahman Hilu, Zilla Parishad Members Advocate Raushan Ara Kabir Lily and Naznin Sultana Rozy and Jatio Mohila Sangstha Chairman Salma Rahman Kabita were present as special guests with trust’s member secretary Chandibarpur UP chairman Md. Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan in the chair.

Nur Mohammad was born on February 26 in 1936 at village Mahiskhola of Narail Sadar upazila. Mahiskhola was renamed as Nur Mohammad Nagar showing respect to Bir Shreshtha Nur Mohammad, who embraced martyrdom in a face to face fighting with Pakistani Army in Goalhati area in Jessore on September 5 during the country’s War of Independence in 1971.
