PABNA, Feb 24, 2021 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said
the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be further strengthened if
the tested leaders of Awami League are entrusted with the task of leading the
party at different tiers.

“Many leaders remain inactive in organizational activities, if the party
remains in power, this should not be tolerated . . . Many will join the
party to earn money easily which also should not be accepted. Tested
leaders would be entrusted with the task of leading the party. Then, the
hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would be more stronger,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while addressing the triennial conference of
Awami League Faridpur upazila unit at Wazi Uddin Pouro auditorium in Pabna.

Hasan said Awami League (AL) is the name of an enriched organization and
the country’s independence came under the leadership of this organization.
Bangabandhu brought the freedom through fighting for his life, he added.

The minister said Bangabandhu did not only want sovereignty, he also
wanted to build a developed nation.

“But, he (Bangabandhu) couldn’t fulfill his dream as he was assassinated
brutally on August 15, 1975. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working
relentlessly to implement the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” said Hasan, also AL joint general secretary.

He said the government’s initiatives in combating Coronavirus pandemic
under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been lauded
across the globe. Bangladesh is ahead in collecting vaccines compared to many
other countries, he added.

But, Hasan said the reality is that, despite criticizing the government
initiatives the BNP leaders are now taking corona vaccines.
