DU to reopen hall partially from March

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities
are going to reopen its dormitories partially for residential master’s
examinees in the first week of March.

The decision came from the provost committee meeting held today with
Vice- Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzamanin in the chair, Dr Nizamul Hoque
Bhuiyan, provost of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall confirmed BSS.

Gradually, the university will take decisions to allow final year
students and others in the dorms considering overall pandemic
situation, added Nizamul, also General Secretary of Dhaka University
Teachers Association (DUTA).

The university has been preparing the roadmap to reopen halls
maintaining health guidelines considering the pandemic situation.

Besides, cleanliness campaign is going on in full swing in the
dormitories for few days.

DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr Maksud Kamal, DU Pro-VC (Administration) Dr
Mohammad Samad, provosts of different halls, dean of different
faculties and teachers, among others, were present in the meeting.

Earlier, soon after the DU authority decided to hold exams,
university students and teachers staged demonstrations on the campus
demanding to reopen the halls before exams.
