SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 26, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan today said that the government has been lauded all over the world for taking time-befitting steps to fight against the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been recognized globally for its successful steps to overcome the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.
The state minister made the remarks taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President’s speech in the House here.
Praising the government’s initiatives to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, Murad said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been applauded by the World Health Organization (WHO) for her extraordinary performance in tackling the pandemic.
According to the ranking made by the US-based media group – Bloomberg, he said, Bangladesh secured the top position among the South Asian countries and 20th among 185 countries in the world for fighting against coronavirus pandemic in a sustainable manner.
However, Pakistan has been ranked 29th, the United Kingdom 30th, the USA 37th and neighboring India 39th in this international ranking, Murad added.
Even the USA based influential business magazine ‘Forbes’ in its article titled ‘Eight more leaders facing the corona virus crisis’ has recognized the Bangladesh Prime Minister as one of the most successful women leaders in the world for combating the global pandemic, the state minster said.
