23,280 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Jan 23, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 35 more COVID-19 patients yesterday, the number of total cured patients from the lethal disease in the division now reached 23,280, said an official report.

A total of 2,933 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death toll from the virus rose to 384 including 240 in Bogura and 54 in Rajshahi with no more fatality reported afresh for the second consecutive days today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,416 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,642 have been released.

Meanwhile, with detection of 19 new more positive cases in five districts under the Rajshahi division on Friday, one of the lowest in daily infection compared to the previous couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients in the division has risen to 25,109, Dr Habibul Ahsan said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest six were detected in Pabna, followed by five in Bogura, three each in Rajshahi including two in its city and Naogaon and one each in Joypurhat and Sirajganj.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the reported COVID-19 cases now stands at 5,934 in Rajshahi including 4,447 in its city, 820 in Chapainawabganj, 1,594 in Naogaon, 1,222 in Natore, 1,349 in Joypurhat, 9,822 in Bogura, 2,710 in Sirajganj and 1,658 in Pabna.

Dr Habibul Ahsan said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19 patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.
