DHAKA, Jan 20, 2021 (BSS)- The Bangladesh cricketers expressed solidarity with the anti-racism movement by opposing the ongoing racism all over the world.

Five minutes before the start of the match against the West Indies today, the cricketers of the host Bangladesh and the visiting West Indies team lined up and declared their solidarity with the movement.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) celebrated the day of returning to international cricket after 314 days by flying balloons.

The movement with slogan Black Lives Matter has gained momentum around the world since George Floyd, a black man, was killed by the torture of police in the United States on May 25 last year.

That wave of protest also hit the sports world. Athletes from different parts of the country welcomed the movement and expressed solidarity.

Darren Sammy, Chris Gayle and many others protested on social media immediately after the untoward incident that took place in the United States (US).

Darren Sammy was the first to protest and called on the ICC to come forward. After that, the highest governing body of world cricket joined the protest.

Cricketers in England and the West Indies protested with the slogan ‘Black Lives Matter’ after cricket returned to field amid Covid-19 pandemic.
