Met office predicts light to moderate rain

DHAKA, July 8, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over
the country in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

It may occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet
divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and
Dhaka divisions with moderate to heavy falls at places over the country
during the period, said a met office press release.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged across the country
during the period.

A low has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining area. The monsoon axis
runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Gangetic West
Bengal, the centre of the low and thence northeastwards to Assam across
Southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and
moderate over the Northeast Bay.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Nikli in Dhaka division and today’s minimum temperature was 25.1 degrees
Celsius at Sandwip in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
31 mm at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:50 pm today and rises at 5:18 am tomorrow in the
capital.
