COVID-19 cases cross 25,000 mark in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 30, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases only in the district crossed 25,000 mark as 291 more new persons were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1,404 samples in eight COVID-19 laboratories during the last 24 hours till this morning.

“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 25,151 only in the Chattogram district till today,” Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.

Among the total patients, 19,205 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,946 are from different upazilas of the district.

The fatalities from COVID-19 here reached 314 while no death case was reported in the last 24 hours.

Among the newly detected patients, 255 are from Chattogram city and 36 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

With the healing of 138 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients rose to 19,639.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as they were found coronavirus negative in two consecutive real-time PCR tests,” Dr Rabbi said.

Besides, 1,772 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, he added.
