Bangbandhu T20 Cup reserve umpire Rajon tests positive for Covid-19

DHAKA, Nov 28, 2020 (BSS)—Ali Arman Rajon, a reserve umpire of Bangabandhu T20 Cup was tested positive for Covid-19.

Rajon who was scheduled to stand as the fourth umpire of two matches, including today’s two games between Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram as well as Fortune Barishal vs Minister Group Rajshahi was sent to isolation at his home.

His sample was taken in a bid to send him to the bio-bubble but he returned positive.

Debashish Chowdhury, the sports physician of the BCB, confirmed the news, saying, “Rajon was tested positive for Covid-19. He is in isolation at his home now. He has mild symptoms.”

Meanwhile, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, the top order batsman of Gazi Group Chattogram, is undergoing treatment at Mirpur National Cricket Academy under the medical department of BCB after being positive for Covid-19 before the start of the tournament.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) tested a total of 125 people, including cricketers and coaching staff of five teams, on November 20 ahead of the five-team Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Of these, only one cricketer, Joy returned positive.

According to team sources on Chattogram, they have no plans to replace the injured Mahmudul Hasan.
