DHAKA, Nov 28, 2020 (BSS)—A two-member inspection team of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) has arrived in Dhaka today to assess Bangladesh’s Covid-19 management and the security arrangements ahead of their ensuing series.
They landed at Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport through Qatar Airlines this morning.
Akram Khan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Chairman confirmed the news.
The two-member team–Dr. Akshai Mansingh (a member of the ICC & CWI Medical Panel as well a CWI Director) and Paul Slowe (Security and Safety Manager) will conduct their assessment that will run until December 3.
“They have already arrived here to see our Covid-19 management plan and the security plan ahead of their scheduled tour in January,” Akram told the reporters here today.
According to the ICC’s FTP (Future Tour Plan), the Caribbean side will play three Tests, three ODIs and two T20 Internationals against host Bangladesh in January 2021.
However, the Cricket West Indies has proposed to reduce the length of the series by reducing one Test as it is tough to stay in the bio-bubble for so long.
A final decision to reduce a Test match will be taken considering all factors, said Akram Khan.
Meanwhile, the BCB has already sent a bio-bubble plan to Cricket West Indies ahead of the full series. The BCB hopes that the visiting team will respond positively to the plan.
