JS body for holding ‘Bangladesh Envoys Conference’

DHAKA, Sept 12, 2017 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry for Foreign Affairs today recommended holding “Bangladesh Envoys Conference” with participation of all the ambassadors and high commissioners of the country working abroad.

The parliamentary body made the recommendation in its 15th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) here with its Chairman Dr Dipu Moni presiding, said an official release.

The meeting suggested arranging the conference to hold detailed discussions on the government’s policies and positions and its challenges and prospects regarding the foreign policy, international relations, bilateral relations, trade and commerce and expatriate welfare.

It also suggested preparing booklets and documentaries on the Liberation War of 1971 and sending those to Bangladesh missions abroad.

The committee thanked Dr Dipu Moni for her well-thought-out, informative and historic speech about the Rohingya problem in parliament. The committee members discussed in details their experiences of visits to Australia and New Zealand.

During the visits, the committee members held successful view exchange meetings with the authorities of the countries about the March 25, 1971 genocide, bilateral trade relations, garment industry, Rohingya problem, and the recent success of Bangladesh cricket team.

Among others, committee members, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, MP, Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP, Golam Faruk Khandaker Prince, MP, Md Sohrabuddin,MP, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, Mohammad Fakhrul, MP, Selim Uddin, MP, and Mahzabin Khaled, MP, were present at the meeting.
