High Court Justice Soumendra Sarkar retires

Dhaka, Oct 30, 2020 (BSS) – High Court Division Justice of the Supreme Court Soumendra Sarkar has gone on retirement.

He was officially supposed to retire today after completion of his 67 years age limit as per the constitution. But, being the weekly holiday today, yesterday (Thursday) was his last working day.

On the occasion, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and the Attorney General’s Office bade him a virtual farewell, said SCBA Secretary Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal.

Justice Soumendra Sarkar was born on 31 October 1953.

He did his honors and masters degrees in Jurisprudence.

He joined the Judiciary on 6 November 1978 as a Munsef (now Assistant Judge). He was later promoted to District and Sessions Judge on November 20, 1995.

On June 30, 2009, he was appointed as an Additional Judge in the High Court Division. Two years later, on June 6, 2011, his appointment was made permanent.
