RAB mobile court seals 2 hospitals, jails 6 persons in city

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2020 (BSS) – A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided three hospitals in the city’s Mohammadpur-Shyamoli area and sealed off two of those on the charges of cheating people in the name of providing better treatment and doing irregularities with fake doctors.

RAB’s executive magistrate Polash Kumar Bosu told BSS that they conducted about eight-hour drive from 09:45 pm on Wednesday to 4am on Thursday. During the drive, six people, including owners of three hospitals and three employees were jailed to different terms for a number of irregularities, including employing fake doctors.

He said the RAB mobile court sentenced Babul Hossain, director of Nurjahan Orthopedics Hospital in Mohammadpur area, to one year imprisonment and its ward boy to two years jail. The mobile court also sealed off the hospital.

Besides, Nur Hossain, director of Mokka-Medina Hospital at Shyamoli was sentenced to one-year imprisonment and its two employees -Anwar Hossain Kalu and Abdur Rashid — to six-month jail for the same crime. At the same time, Makka-Medina hospital was sealed off.

Meanwhile, a director of the Crescent Hospital in the same area Haji Mohammad Abul Hossain, 50, was sentenced to one-year jail and a warning notice was issued against him as the hospital’s approval date expired four months ago.

“He is serving here as doctor with the certificate HSC… He is both the director and the doctor of the hospital,” the magistrate of the mobile court said.

Senior officials of the Health Directorate and RAB-2 were present during the drive.
