Profit bookers drag stocks down

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today closed trade in downbeat after single-day break as risk-averse investors opted for booking quick profits cashing this upsurge.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4982.37 points on Tuesday with a gain of 21.25 points or 0.42 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 7.47 points and 5.52 points to settle at 1705.13 points and 1125.53 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 171,651 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 330.63 million securities.

Besides, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 8.53 billion from Taka 8.79 billion in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 355 issues traded, 140 securities gained price while 167 declined and 49 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,986 billion which was Taka 3,978 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Paramount Textile, Express Insurance, EBL First Mutual Fund, Karnaphuli Insurance, Green Delta Mutual Fund, Republic Insurance, PHP First Mutual Fund, Walton Hi-Tech, EBL NRB Mutual Fund and Nitol Insurance.

Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Paramount Textile, Nitol Insurance, Sandhani Life Insurance, Brac Bank, Eastland Insurance, Square Pharma, Express Insurance and Karnaphuli Insurance.

The top 10 losers were United Air, Fine Foods, QG Ball Pen, First Finance, Orion Infusion, Mithun Knitting, Sun Life Insurance, Shyampur Sugar, International Leasing and Hakkani Pulp.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trade in red from the single day gain.

Selective categories index, CSCX and all shares price index, CASPI declined by 22.19 points and 37.46 points to stand at 8582.20 points and 14261.70 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 17,175,782 share and mutual funds of 287 companies were traded, of which 112 issues advanced while 136 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged.
