Sheikh Hasina’s 74th birthday celebrated in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS)- The 74th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), was celebrated in Khulna today in a befitting manner.

Awami League and other organisations celebrated the day through various programmes highlighting the life and achievements of Sheikh Hasina by maintaining social distance and health guidelines set up by the government due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Marking the day, leaders and activists of Khulna Awami League, led by President of Khulna City AL and Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque, placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at its party office in front of Shaheed Hadis Park.

In this regard, a discussion meeting, milad and doa mahfil were organised seeking further progress and welfare of Sheikh Hasina and the country and blessing of the departed souls of martyred Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her family members.

Khulna Sadar Thana Awami League organised a discussion meeting last evening at the Shaheed Hadis Park marking the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with its President Advocate Saiful Islam in the chair.

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Fayequzzaman, district unit AL president and Khulna Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid were present as special guests.

Besides, Khulna Jubo League and other front organisations, Khulna Journalists Union (KUJ) Gopalganj Zilla Kallyan Samity and other different organisations observed the day with befitting manner.

On this day in 1947, Sheikh Hasina, the eldest of the five children of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Begum Fazilatunnesa, was born at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
