NARAYANGANJ, Sept 27, 2020 (BSS) – Each family of Narayanganj air
conditioner (AC) blast victims today received Taka 5 lakh from the Prime Minister’s fund.
Local lawmaker Shamim Osman distributed the cheques of PM’s donation among
the victims’ families at a programme at the conference room of the deputy
commissioner (DC).
Speaking at the programme, Shamim Osman termed the deceased as martyrs and
said, “They are lucky as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remain beside their
families. We also stand beside them.”
He urged all to pray for Prime Minister’s good health and long life.
Narayanganj DC Md Zasim Uddin presided over the function while additional
superintendent of police Mustafizur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer
(UNO) Nahida Barik, district Awami League president Abdul Hai were present at
the function, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Naimul Islam, son of one of the victim’s and
Imam of the Baitus Salat mosque, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina for extending assistance towards the victims’ families.
Earlier, on September 24, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the
financial assistance of Taka 1.75 crore to 35 families of the victims, who
died and suffered injuries in an air conditioner (AC) blast at Pashchim Talla
Baitus Salat Jame Mosque in Fatullah here.
As many as 33 people died and several others were critically injured in
the explosion at the mosque around 8:45pm after Esha prayers on September 4.
