52 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 26, 2020 (BSS) – Fifty-two more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at the two
laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the virus continues
to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 52 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 376 samples collected from the division at the laboratories
in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection rate of about 13.83 percent.

Of them, 23 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 23 patients include 11 of Rangpur, five of Gaibandha, four
of Kurigram, two of Lalmonirhat and one of Thakurgaon districts,”
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, 29 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 29 new COVID-19 patients include nine of Dinajpur, 10 of
Nilphamari and five each of Thakurgaon and Nilphamari districts,”
Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process at 7:20 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 11,865 as 52 new cases were reported from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the 11,865 patients stands at 2,802
in Rangpur, 609 in Panchagarh, 1,052 in Nilphamari, 854 in
Lalmonirhat, 897 in Kurigram, 1,120 in Thakurgaon, 3,370 in Dinajpur
and 1,161 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
