Stocks end in flat

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today closed session almost flat as investors were active on both sides of the trading fence throughout the session.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4972.13 points on Wednesday with a gain of 2.02 points or 0.04 percent overcoming the loss of 146 points in the last four sessions.

However, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES went down by 5.85 points and 0.91 points to settle at 1708.48 points and 1125.82 points respectively extending trend previous four sessions.

Meanwhile, Walton Hi-Tech Industries made a flying debut in trade as its share price jumped to the highest allowable limit riding on “irrational hype” of investors for this new entrant.

The local electronics manufacturing giant’s share closed at Taka 378 each on the DSE, soaring 50 percent on its offer price. The company’s offer price was Taka 252 each.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 176,741 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 343.61 million securities.

Besides, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 8.81 billion from Taka 7.29 billion in the previous session.

Gainer took lead over losers as out of 356 issues traded, 174 securities gained price while 137 declined and 45 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,892 billion which was Taka 3,769 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Walton Hi-Tech Industries, Delta Life Insurance, Green Delta Insurance, Prime Life Insurance, Rupali Life Insurance, Nitol Insurance, Fareast Islami Life Insurance, Meghna Life Insurance, Sandhani Life Insurance and Rupali Insurance.

Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Delta Brac Housing, Beximco Limited, Rupali Insurance, Sandhani Insurance, Purabi General Insurance, Brac Bank, Popular Life Insurance, Square Pharma and Federal Insurance.

The top ten losers were BD Welding, First Finance, Anwar Galvanizing, Beacon Pharma, Aftab Auto, Bay-Leasing, Monno Ceramics, Jute Spinners, Beximco Limited and Aziz Pipes.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed trade in almost flat from the losing streak of last four days.

Selective categories index, CSCX declined by 1.59 points while all shares price index, CASPI rose by 11.83 points to stand at 8512.68 points and 14181.42 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 13,004,390 share and mutual funds of 294 companies were traded, of which 136 issues advanced while 112 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged.
