84.94 pc COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 22, 2020 (BSS) – The recovery rate of COVID -19
patients in the division currently stands at 84.94 percent and the daily
number of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections continued to fall in recent days.

“A total of 18,178 COVID-19 patients out of total 21,400 infected
patients have been cured till Monday and the recovery rate of the lethal
virus is 84.94 percent,” Divisional Director (Health) in Khulna division Dr.
Rasheda Sultana told BSS today.

The total recovered patients include 5,485 in Khulna, 2,839 in Kushtia,
2,685 in Jashore, 1,534 in Jhenaidah, 1,218 in Chuadanga, 1,171 in Narail,
1,018 in Satkhira, 902 in Bagerhat, 825 in Magura and 511 in Meherpur
district.

Talking to BSS, Assistant Director (Health) Dr. Ferdoushi Akter said 120
more COVID-19 infected patients recovered in the last 24 hours till today’s
noon raising their total number to 18,178 in all ten districts of the
division.

Health officials said the total number of infected patients climbed to
21,400 as 81 new people were reported positive after testing 112 collected
samples at COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna and others samples were collected
from two PCR labs in the division last 24 hour till today’s noon.

Of the newly detected COVID-19 patients, 23 are in Jashore, 20 in
Kushtia,10 in Jhenaidah, seven each in Khulna and Narail, five in Chuadanga,
three each in Magura and Meherpur, two in Bagerhat and one in Satkhira
districts in the division.

Dr Ferdousi said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact
with COVID-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain
in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She said all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 21,464 others are being monitored in
isolation units in different hospitals under institutional supervision and
another 18,299 were released.

The district-wise break- up of the patients stands at 6,267 are in
Khulna, 3,794 in Jashore, 3,197 in Kushtia, 1,879 in Jhenaidah, 1,400 in
Chuadanga, 1,306 in Narail, 1,092 in Satkhira, 979 in Bagerhat 890 in Magura
and 596 in Meherpur districts.

“Among the total 21,400 coronavirus infected persons, 2,281 are
undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 18,178 have
recovered and 369 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation
at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the one more deaths in Kushtia, the total number of fatalities now
reached 369 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 93 in Khulna,
68 in Kushtia, 44 in Jashore, 32 in Chuadanga, 32 in Jhenaidah, 30 in
Satkhira, , 22 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail, 15 in Meherpur and 13 in Magura
districts in the division”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 21,400 Covid-19 patients
stands at little over 1.72 percent in the division.

Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana called upon everyone
for wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and abiding by all health
directives set by government to prevent further community transmission of
COVID-19 infection in the division.
