BARISHAL, Sept 19, 2020 (BSS) – A magnificent mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is being constructed at Bangabandhu Auditorium here.
The mural is being erected on the south side wall of the under construction Bangabandhu Auditorium at the initiative of Barisal City Corporation.
City corporation’s public relations department sources said, the construction work of Bangabandhu Auditorium started in 2014 at a cost of Tk 17 crore. In the budget for the fiscal year 2020-2021, it is proposed to allocate another Tk 5 crore for the completion of the rest work of the Bangabandhu Auditorium.
They said 90 percent construction work of the mural at Bangabandhu Auditorium on South Sadar Road in the city has already been completed.
In this regard, Mayor of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah said, “This year is very important as the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time, the architect of independent Bangladesh, is being celebrated.”
He said BCC is working to build a planned city for future generations. “The construction of mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a part of it,” he added.
