RAJSHAHI, July 2, 2018 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 14
more persons here yesterday and they were sentenced to different terms of
jail each by mobile court on charge of taking drugs.
On tips-off, teams of the elite anti-crime force conducted raids in
different areas of Rajshahi, Natore and Joypurhat districts and arrested
them. During the anti-drug operations, six others were fined Taka 45,000 and
regular cases were recorded against six other drug addicts.
The RAB sources said today the team also seized 2.04 kilograms of ganja,
75 yaba pills, 15,000 liters of local liquor and some other drugs-taking
instruments from their possessions.
Later, the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court. After
examining the evidences, the court sentenced them to jail.
Nure Alam, Assistant Superintendent of Police working at RAB, said
different courts sent more than 253 drug addicts to jail after found them
guilty during last one week.
Similar type of anti-drive operation will be conducted in the days ahead
for the greater interest of protecting the youths from the deadly drug-
addiction, he added.
