Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, June 30, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur
at some places over the country in 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over
Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions and at one or two places
over Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to
heavy falls at some places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing
from 9 am today,” said a met office press release here today.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country
during the period, the release added.

The trough of monsoon axis runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and it extends to Assam across northern part of
Bangladesh, the release said, adding that one of its associated troughs
extends up to Northeast Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and
weak to moderate over North Bay.

The maximum temperature was recorded 35.3 degrees Celsius yesterday in
Rajshahi and today’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius at Rangamati
and Teknaf in Chattogram division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 79
mm at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:50 pm today and rises at 5:15 am tomorrow in the
capital.
