DHAKA, Aug 15, 2020 (BSS) – Dhaka University former vice-chancellor
Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at
the death of eminent artist Murtaja Baseer.
In a condolence message, Prof Arefin said, “Murtaja was not only a talented
artist but also a dedicated teacher. As the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka
University, whenever I called him for any tasks, he would have responded
immediately. He actively participated in various activities of Dhaka
University. Dhaka University will always remember him with respect,
especially for the way he kept himself associated with the Faculty of Fine
Arts.”
His death is really an irreparable loss to the country’s art, literature
and cultural arena, said Prof Arefin.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound
sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Murtaja breathed his last at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a city
hospital this morning.
