Bangladesh would have become developed country if Bangabandhu was alive: Yeafesh

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2020, (BSS) – Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman today said if Bangabandhu was alive, Bangladesh would have become a developed country long ago.

The minister stated this at a virtual meeting held at the Ministry of Science and Technology marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the great architect of Bangladesh’s independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release here.

The minister sought sincere cooperation of all for the smooth implementation of all the programmes taken to observe the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu.

“The ministry has to play a crucial role in letting the world know about the true history of the Liberation War and Bangabandhu’s contribution to the country,” he added.

It is necessary to ensure that all the programmes undertaken by the agencies are carried out with due dignity throughout the country, he said.

It was stated in the meeting that the ministry has chalked out various programmes including hoisting half-mast national flags at the ministry and its other subordinate departments, holding black badges, discussions on National Mourning Day with limited participation, light and sound show to highlight the history of the whole liberation war, digital display board with biography of Bangabandhu at the entrance of the ministry to mark martyrdom anniversary, said the release.

Besides, exhibitions of pictures of Bangabandhu’s family and liberation war, stamps and coins will be organised through virtual programme.

Science and Technology Senior Secretary Md Anwar Hossain and heads of agencies and project directors under the ministry were present at the meeting.
