Rangpur Mayor, his wife test COVID-19 positive

RANGPUR, Aug 4, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa and his wife Jelly Rahman were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing their samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory of Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) on Sunday afternoon.

“Mayor Mostafa and his wife are undergoing treatment in home isolation at their residence in Khamar Mour area of the metropolis,” Chief Health Officer of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Dr. Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz told BSS at 6:15 pm today.

“Health condition of the Mayor and his wife are stable now… We are taking appropriate care of them,” Dr. Taz said, and called upon every citizen to pray for early recovery of the Mayor couple.

Talking to BSS this evening, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu confirmed the COVID-19 infection of them.

“We found that the Mayor and his wife COVID-19 positive after diagnosing their collected samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory of RpMC in real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests on Sunday afternoon,” Prof Dr. Lyzu added.

Talking to BSS over cell phone this evening, Mayor Mostafa said, “I, along with my wife Jelly, am feeling quite okay at home isolation now. I call upon all citizens to pray for our early recovery.”
