Stocks witness positive trend after Eid vacation

DHAKA, Aug 3, 2020 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed positive trends after three-day Eid holidays as investors are showing their buying appetite on sector-wise issues.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 57.39 points or 1.36 percent to settle at 4,271.82. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index also advanced 22.15 points and 16.64 points to finish at 1,422.79 and 993.14 respectively.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Taka 5,809.08 million on the country’s prime bourse, which is higher than the previous trading session’s turnover of Taka 3,995.22 million.

Of the issues traded, 101 remained unchanged while 192 issues advanced and 62 declined on the DSE floor.

Square Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Pioneer Insurance, Beximco and Standard Insurance.

Active Fine was the day’s best performer while Navana CNG, United Insurance, Agrani Insurance and SILCOPHL.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—gaining 165.24 points to close at 12,122.30 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX –advancing 97.63 points to finish at 7,347.79.

Of the issues traded, 144 gained, 27 declined and 144 remained unchanged on the CSE.
