Digital cattle hat gets momentum

DHAKA, July 27, 2020 (BSS) – The selling spree of sacrificial animal is yet to begin at city’s cattle markets, but online digital hats have already get momentum.

“Several lakh sacrificial animals have already been registered in two public digital platforms”, said State Minister for Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

The online digital cattle hat has been launched in association with the ICT division, Access to Information Porgramme (ai2), Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and e-Commerce Association Bangladesh (e-CAB), said the ICT state minister.

Several lakh cattle have already been registered in these two digital platforms—Food for Nation and ekShop, he said, adding that “Not only the two platforms but also a good number of non-government organisations are also being connected with this endeavor”.

“We are expecting that the digital hat will play an active role in protecting the lives and livelihood through maintaining social distance during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Palak added.

Terming digital hat as another great success of Awami League government, he said Prime Minister’s digital Bangladesh is now being enjoyed by 17 crore people of the country.

“Without any panic, people are buying their sacrificial animals in convenient ways from the digital hats staying at home,” he added.

People are buying the sacrificial animals through the online due to availability of the internet, increasing use of smart phone, easier payment system and payment gateways.

The booking and selling of the sacrificial animals have already started on various sites including e-commerce platform (marketplace), e-commerce site, website and facebook related sites, he said, adding that the delivery of these sacrificial animals will be given before one or two days of the Eid.

Along with the private sector initiative, the sacrificial animals will also be sold on online with the initiative of the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners.

Websites, apps and facebook related pages have also been developed to this end, the ICT state minster elaborated.

“People can buy their sacrificial animals in fair price from the digital hat and receive their meat delivery to their respective address from five areas in the city”, said DNCC Mayor M Atiqul Islam.

Under the digital hat inaugurated on July 11, the DNCC Mayor said arrangements have been taken to delivery the meat to the respective consumers’ houses after slaughtering 2,000 cattle. Of the cattle, 400 will be slaughtered on Eid day, 1,000 on second day of the Eid and 600 on the third of Eid.

Apart from this, bengal meat or qurbani.bengalmeat.com, bikroy.com, deshi goru bd.com or deshigorubd.com, e-commerce platform ajkerdeal.com and priyoshop.com have taken initiatives to sell sacrificial animals.
