COVID-19 cases reach 7,642 in Khulna

KHULNA, July 14, 2020 (BSS) – With detection of 325 more positive cases in last one day, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division now stands at 7,642, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.

“We received 282 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 325 have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection ,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this noon.

The health officials said the newly detected 325 COVID-19 patients are 92 in Khulna, 45 in Kushtia, 37 each in Jashore and Jhenidah, 32 in Satkhira, 31 in Narail, 22 in Magura, 20 in Bagerhat, five in Chuadanga and four in Meherpur districts

“Among the total 7,642 COVID-19 patients, 3,196 are in Khulna, 1,091 in Jashore, 1,019 in Kushtia, 489 in Jhenaidah, 430 in Satkhira, 422 in Narail, 343 in Bagerhat, 307 in Chuadanga, 237 in Magura and 108 in Meherpur districts” Dr. Ferdousi said.

The number of infected patients is on the rise but the number of the recovery of COVID-19 patients continued to increase in recent weeks , he said.

“With the cure of 145 more infected patients, the total number of recovered COVID-19 patients now rose to 3,288 with the recovery rate of 43.02 percent in the division till today’s noon,” she said.

The recovered patients are being discharged from home isolations or Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after disappearance of all symptoms and finding of two consecutive real-time PCR tests.

“Among the total 7,642 coronavirus infected persons, 801 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 3,288 have recovered and 132 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi said.

With the four more deaths including two in Jhenaidah, one each in Satkhira and Khulna, the total number of fatalities now reached 132 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the fatalities remains at 48 in Khulna, 19 in Kushtia, 17 in Jashore, 10 in Jhenaidah, eight each in Narail and Satkhira, seven in Magura, six each in Meherpur and Bagerhat and three in Chuadanga districts ”, she added.

Currently, the fatality rate among the total 7,642 Covid-19 patients stands at over 1.73 percent in the division.

During the last 24 hours, 315 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 220 others released from all ten districts in the division.

A total of 45,701 people were put in quarantines since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in all ten districts of Khulna division.

Among them, 42,996 have so far been released and 2,705 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantines in the division
