62.75pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 13, 2020 (BSS) – The recovery rate of coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 62.75 percent in Rangpur division where positive cases are continuing to rise amid limited scale community transmission of the virus at places.

Health officials said the number of healed COVID-19 patients rose to 2,588 with the healing of 69 new people at the dedicated corona hospitals and isolations at homes on Sunday in the division.

“The recovery rate among all 2,588 coronavirus patients stands at 62.75 percent now,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

“The 2,588 recovered COVID-19 patients include 885 of Rangpur, 126 of Panchagarh, 355 of Nilphamari, 107 of Lalmonirhat, 139 of Kurigram, 189 of Thakurgaon, 575 of Dinajpur and 211 of Gaibandha districts in the division,” he said.

On the other hand, the number of recovered COVID-19 patients stood at 997 among total 2,159 infected people with the recovery rate of 46.17 percent 24 days back on June 19 in the division.

Meanwhile, the total reported number of COVID-19 patients climbed to 4,124 as 83 new positive cases were reported positive after testing only collected 282 samples in the division on Sunday.

“The district-wise break up of 4,124 patients stands at 1,276 in Rangpur, 177 in Panchagarh, 485 in Nilphamari, 209 in Lalmonirhat, 278 in Kurigram, 256 in Thakurgaon, 669 in Dinajpur and 474 Gaibandha in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Amin Ahmed Khan a total of 32,953 collected samples were tested since the beginning, and of them, 4,124 found coronavirus positive with the infection rate of 12.51 percent in the division.

Meanwhile, the total number of fatalities rose to 70 with one more death reported from Dinajpur on Sunday.

The district-wise break up of fatalities now stands at 21 in Rangpur, 18 in Dinajpur, 10 in Gaibandha, eight in Nilphamari, five in Kurigram four in Panchagarh, two in Thakurgaon and one each in Lalmonirhat districts.

A total of 53,717 people were put in quarantines since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in Rangpur division.

Among the total quarantined people, 47,147 have so far been released and 6,570 are remaining in home or institutional quarantines.

A total of 1,73,316 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) were received so far, 1,03,069 pieces distributed among the health service providers with a stock of 70,247 pieces in the division.

“We have also received 11,040 masks and distributed 4,677 with 6,363 pieces in hand, got 60,854 hand gloves and distributed 50,150 with 10,704 pieces in stock and received 8,983 bottles of hexisol and distributed 5,468 with 3,515 bottles in stock,” Dr. Khan said.

The government hospitals and other health services providing facilities of Rangpur division have 1,123 physicians, 1,757 nurses and 5,907 other staff to provide treatments to the infected patients and face the COVID-19 situation.
