Met office forecasts heavy rainfall in Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi divisions

DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at places over Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi divisions.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh, Rangpur, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country”, said the met office release here today.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the release said.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Panjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to Northeast Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 34.0 degree Celsius at Jashore and minimum temperature today was recorded by 23.3 degree Celsius at Nikli.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 158 millimeters (mm) at Chauadanga.

The sun sets at 6:49 pm today and rises at 5:19 am tomorrow in the capital.
