162 new COVID-19 cases detected in Ctg, 3 die

CHATTOGRAM, July 10, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 162 people were tested positive for coronavirus and three died in the last 24 hours after testing 781 samples at six COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Among the newly detected patients, 117 are from Chattogram city and 45 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 11,195 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

With today’s three deaths, the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) death in Chattogram reached 223, he added.

Of the newly 11,134 COVID-19 patients, 7,795 are the residents of the port city and the rest 3,399 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Dr Rabbi said that 25 new COVID-19 patients were tested corona positive at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after testing 132 samples in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 28 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 181 samples during the same period.

“Besides, 16 new COVID-19 patients were identified at CVASU, Chattogram after testing 77 samples,” the civil surgeon said, adding that 33 more new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 162 samples in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, 29 patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 88 samples while 31 patients were identified at Imperial Hospital after testing 145 samples during the period.

A total of 1,345 people were released from the different hospitals after recovery from the COVID-19 infection till today, he added.
