Information minister, state minister mourns death of Sahara Khatun

DHAKA, July 10, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Awami League (AL) presidium member and former home minister Advocate Sahara Khatun MP.

In a condolence message, Dr Hasan, also joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League, said the country has lost a dedicated and patriotic politician at her death.

As the first woman home minister of the country, her contribution to the politics would remain fadeless in our memory, he added.

The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to her bereaved family members.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of AL presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun.

“Sahara Khatun always engaged herself in the struggle of establishing democracy and right of the people being imbued with the ideology of Bangabandhu”, he said in another condolence message.

The country has lost a dedicated and honest politician at her death, he added.

Advocate Sahara Khatun breathed her last on Thursday night at Bumrungrad Hospital in Thailand at the age of 77 years.
