100 pregnant mothers get healthcare services in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 10, 2020 (BSS) – Around 100 pregnant mothers coming from the underprivileged and distressed families were given healthcare services aimed at ensuring their safe delivery through making them free from the pregnancy related complexities.

The services were provided through a daylong Health Camp organized by the 40 East Bengal Regiment under 11th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army at Kasiadanga Degree College in the city on Thursday to mark the Mujib Barsha-2020, birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

With supervision of Lt Col Mosaddeque Rashid, Commanding Officer of 40 East Bengal Regiment, Gynae Specialist of Rajshahi Combined Military Hospital Major Shamsunnahar and Medical Officer Major Urmisha conducted the health camp.

In addition to the treatment, the mothers were given medicines, nutritious food and hand sanitizers free of cost with strict coronavirus safety precautions.

Lt Col Mosaddeque also delivered a brief awareness raising speech giving concrete directions and suggestions to the pregnant mothers to lead a secure life in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He also called upon everyone to properly maintain social distance, wear masks and abide by health directives of the government to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and effectively cope with the troubled situation.

He said the Army will continue to provide similar health service assistance to the common people at roving medical camps until the COVID-19 pandemic situation ends.
