Tk 10,100 fined for flouting COVID-19 guidelines in Khulna

KHULNA, July 9, 2020 (BSS) – Mobile courts here fined around Taka 10,100 and filed 15 cases against different shops and business outlets for flouting coronavirus health safety guidelines conducting drives in different areas including wards 17 and 24 of Khulna metropolis, declared as red zone.

Executive Magistrates Md. Imran Khan, Taposhi Rabeya and Setu Kumar Barua of Khulna district administration conducted special mobile courts and fined the business entities including departmental and cosmetics stores for violating government order to prevent coronavirus transmission.

Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner and also District Magistrate Mohammad Helal Hossain, the special mobile courts conducted the drives in different areas including Aichgati Union of Rupsha Upazila of Khulna and Wards No- 17 and 24 of Khulna Metropolitan City declared as Red Zone areas.

The courts filed 15 cases against the shops for not abiding by the hygiene rules and violating government orders related to timeframe of remaining open of shops including for not wearing masks by shopkeepers, violation of public order and not taking any arrangement to maintain social distancing for general people.

Meanwhile, another mobile court headed by executive magistrate Setu Kumar Barua, three drug (cannabis) addicts were fined and imprisoned. One was sentenced to three months imprisonment without parole and the other two were sentenced to 15 days imprisonment without parole.

Department of Narcotics Control, Khulna assisted Mobile court during the drive.

Khulna Metropolitan Police and members of Ansar and other law enforcing agencies assisted the mobile courts.

Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Yusuf Ali said some of the shops have been fined and sued which were found running their business activities beyond the time, fixed by the government.

The Khulna district administration will continue drive to prevent coronavirus infection and other crimes, he said.
