Six killed, three injured in Bandarban PCJSS factional clash

BANDARBAN, July 7, 2020 (BSS) – Six persons were shot to death and three others injured in a clash between two alleged factions of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) in Baghmara area of the district this morning.

The slain men were identified as Projit Chakma, Devid Marma, Joy Tripura, Dipen Tripura, Milon Chakma and Ratan Tanchangya, police said.

The clash took place at around 7am allegedly between two factions of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS), one led by Santu Larma, they said.

A gang of five armed people entered the house of the chief of MN Larma group, another faction of PCJSS, while he was having breakfast with his close associates, said Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

The armed men opened fire on them, leaving six people dead on the spot and three others injured, he said.

Bandarban district police super Jerin Akhter said, “We have already known about the assassination of six people, and now we are trying to find out who were behind the incident.”

The injured persons, two of them are in critical condition, were taken to Bandarban Sadar Hospital. Later, the two critically injured men were referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, sources said.

Local people said that heavy sound of gunfire was heard and people were panicked at that time.
