Drug paddler gets life term imprisonment in Natore

RAJSHAHI, June 25, 2018 (BSS) – A court in Natore today convicted a person
and sentenced him to life term imprisonment on charge of possessing yaba
pills and heroin around two years back.

District and Session Judge Md Rejaul Karim found Akbar Hossain Sujan, 30,
guilty of the charge beyond doubt and pronounced the verdict in his presence.
He was also fined Taka 10,000 simultaneously.

In the verdict, the court sentenced another youth Safiul Islam alias Sohel,
23, to five years jail and fined him Taka 5,000.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that, on a tip-off, members of Rapid
Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them with 904 yaba tablets and 410 grams of
heroin from Ekdala area under Sadar Upazila in the district on July 2, 2016
red-handed.

Afterwards, a case was recorded the police station concerned in this
connection. Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges accusing
them on August 8 of the same year.

After examining the recorded depositions of the enlisted prosecution
witnesses and other relevant evidences the court handed down the verdict.

Public Prosecutor Sirajul Islam conducted the case on behalf of the state.
